April 1st, 2011 by Lady Periphaeria Before we venture to the next chart I would like to, taking the risk that I sound whiny, say that I am somewhat dissappointed that there basically have been very few process pictures (thank you who have posted them in FB!) whereas compared to the previous SAL there was tons of them.
As a designer one part of the fun is to see your versions of the project and how it grows on. And when there are none I begin to wonder is there something wrong with the design…
If you are worried about being behind and not emailing (periphaeria(at)gmail.com – replace (at) with @) your process picture because of that, no worries. I would love to see your pictures regardless are you behind with stitching.
I also admit that I haven’t uploaded any here yet due health problems, but I have been continuosly sick whole month of March since it started in February. (We finally figured out with my GP why I didn’t seem to get better and am on my way to being healthy again. ) I apologize for that, but I have been really, really tired and disoriented.
Anyhow, time for part three!

I know there are people who would like to have information about those three mysterious letters in their archives so I edited the blog post a bit and made a *.pdf file out of it. I have stitched half of the first part already just to give you a better image of what the design will look like when stitched.
I’m stitching mine on 40 count Flax Newcastle linen using one strand of Anchor’s 45 (main) and 1084 (contrast).

January 4th, 2011 by Lady Periphaeria I was asked what Å, Ä and Ö mean. Those are the final three alphabets of Finnish (which is my native language) alphabet and they are used in our language (basically Å is not used in Finnish, but Swedish does and it is our second official language).
Ä and Ö are very difficult vowels to pronounce for anyone who hasn’t got Finnish “from their mother’s milk” (as we say it).
The thing is that there are no, that I am aware of, alphabet samplers with all Finnish alphabets in them so I have decided to change this.
When I was designing “Star Sampler” my initial thought with the ABC was that as the sampler itself is influenced by my origin it should also carry my native alphabet to make it “right”.
Those of you who wish to discard those last three letters can, for example, add their monograms and year there (the official plan is to add the date and monograms into the hollow space in the bottom border), or maybe make a border out of the motifs bordering Å,Ä and Ö; like this:
There are tons of possibilities and only limitation is your creativity. (Person who asked about the letters had a great idea to replace them: she replaces the alphabet with her husband’s, son’s and her own name. )
There is, however, an ABC biscornu with all Finnish alphabets in it and that is the “ABC biscornu” from my last design launch.

Let’s say that I am simply THRILLED by the feedback already and all the enthusiasm is really amazing! Stitchers are the best, no matter what anyone else says. 
I whipped up little file with all the information you need to start kitting the project (I hope many of you get a nice excuse to buy more lovely stash because of this project! Stash shopping is good for the soul – and economy!): “Star Sampler” SAL: Info Sheet.
And when the SAL begins and you have progress pictures I would love to see and share your progress so if you have a blog or photohosting service just send me a link (in comments or through email) or email (periphaeria at gmail dot com – just replace “at” and “dot” with correct symbols and remove spaces) me with the details and the picture and I’ll upload it to my server.
I try to blog every single SAL WIP I get into my little hands because I know how much we all love to see different versions of one design.
