Nothing drastic though, just that I simply don’t have enough time at the moment to get ornament set out this year in time for stitchers to have time to stitch them for this holiday season. Therefore I have decided to be nice to myself, stop stressing about them and publish them 2009 early enough to give you all time to stitch the whole set.
I can promise that you will love them and the set is well worth the wait! Their form is a bit unusual and gives a wonderful twist to the set.
But, you will see them in next year, I promise!

1st November 2008
The Gift of Stitching’s ornament number was published earlier than normal this year and I can’t say anything else, but WOW!
It is filled with beautiful designs from several designers one of them being Frosty Pinecones from Periphaeria Designs!
I have loved the design since I designed it ages ago and when I was looking for ornament design for TGOS’ ornament issue it was an obvious choice.
The design style is generally very traditionally Slavic (the name comes from the “pinecone” motif within the whole design), but I wanted to give it a special twist and make it suitable also for those stitchers who don’t live in Northern Hemisphere and decided to go with shades of raspberry and rose to make an example of how varying the design is.
It was originally planned to be stitched with only one colour, but my household gnomes hid not one, but two skeins while I was model stitching the design and it ended to have three colours - very succesfully, if you ask my opinion.
The design can, of course, be stitched with just one colour or three colours of your own preference.
Feel free to play with the colours and I hope you enjoy stitching the design! I did.

I have been appalled by DMC’s blatant disregard of designer copyrights for quite a while and have now decided to convert to using Anchor floss over time as I have found relative inexpensive source from US - and unlike DMC Coats (Anchor’s manufacturer) does not forbid retailers outside EU selling their cheaper floss to EU customers.
This means that eventually all the designs which are stitched with regular cotton floss will be charted for Anchor, BUT I acknowledge the fact that DMC is the most used floss in Western stitching world and will provide guiding conversions from Anchor to DMC.
Of course in future the best match to the original design is achieved by using Anchor floss when regular cotton is used.
Stitcher’s Addictions
I am glad to announce that next part of Stitcher’s Addictions complimentary series is now out and available for download from the main site!
As usual the file contains three versions of the design and you can use either the charted colours or choose your own.
I hope you enjoy stitching this design!

After designing Stash Addicts Anonymous I came up with few other addictions related to cross stitching and only five days after the last complimentary design I am proud to publish the next part of this complimentary series called Exchange Addicts Anonymous!
This beautiful model is stitched by Leena from Violarium on 30 count light blue linen with Pomme de Pin floss called Water Plouf, both of the materials are available through Violarium, and I want to thank her for the amazing work she did with the design.
So, Thank You Leena!
There’s more to come in future!

Hello again after a long, long time!
I have had yet another bout of health problems during this spring and summer, not forgetting the fact that I have found myself a muse who has taken quite much of my free time (but he’s worth it) lately. But, the health problems are hopefully all gone for few decades now and I am back!
Many stitchers are very fond of their stash and collecting new one, myself included, and I found myself from thinking today that I could really use Stash Addicts Anonymous support group.
This thought wanted to manifest itself as a design, or rather three of them, and I am sure you will enjoy these little simple designs.
What a better way to announce your stash addiction than stitching one of these, or all of them? And after that stitch some as gifts for your stitching friends and justify yourself some lovely stash shopping as you surely need some beautiful fabrics and floss for these…

I have also designed two related sets of designs, which I will publish later this year/ during this year as complimentary designs, so stay tuned!
The easiest way to stay tuned is to subscribe to Tales from Periphaeria’s feed and/ or subscribe to Periphaeria Designs‘ newsletter (subscription form can be found from the main site).
Until next time: happy stitching!

6th May 2008
I received an email from a stitcher who wasn’t able to download the latest complimentary design for Mothers’ Day few hours ago, and luckily she did send me that email: when my host moved my account to new, better server, few files had gone lost (I know, their system does not like apostrophes)!
All the files should be in their rightful place again, so, if you have had problems to download this is why it may have happened.
And by the way, second part of the Spanish Sampler MSAL will be published in 15th of May so remember to mark your calendars and subscribe to the TSS newsletter at Periphaeria Designs’ Community!
See you then!

“Wherever you go and whatever you do, May the luck of the Irish be there with you”
About a year ago I was asked to design something Irish and I promised to see what I can do to it. In the end of the 2007 I finally had an idea, or three, and designed few biscornus for you Ireland lovers - or those of you who itch to stitch themselves something stitchy for St. Patrick’s Day.
The set consists of three different designs, two monochromatic and one with various colours:
- Geometric Clovers: 51 x 51 stitches.
- Lucky Clovers: 53 x 53 stitches.
- Pot o’ Gold: 55 x 55 stitches. (NOTE: The design contains over one stitches.)
Models are stitched on 36 count flax Belfast linen with with either
Victoria Clayton silks or DMC/ Kreinik.
If you love Ireland and/ or St. Patrick’s Day this is the set for you!

Since the Valentine’s Day launch the chartpacks sold at Violarium are printed on-site, which means that the chartpacks printed and sold through One Star’s Light and Violarium differ from each other because the card stock used is different. They also differ size wise as Europe and U.S.A. have different default paper size.
Otherwise the chartpacks are the same quality you have got used to.

I have just got the questionable honour to report my first copyright infringement to a $SERVICE_PROVIDER. Does this mean that I am famous now?
I knew, when getting into designing, that there will be people who will steal from me like that, people who won’t respect my right to my intellectual property as I know there are designers who are so plagued by this phenomenon that they use most of their days reporting infringements and not doing what they are good at and what they love: design.
If you purchase my designs, never share them with anyone and respect my copyrights I thank you. If you have the mental spine to preach for the artist’s right for their creation, I am more than thankful, as the world needs you, us, needlework designers need you to help us to spread the knowledge.
If you purchase my designs and “share” them, or if you only stitch my designs without paying a dime of the think of this: would you steal the fabric and floss you use? No, because it’s a crime, as much of a crime as is stealing the pattern, stealing those few cents from the artist who created the design you love to stitch.
To end this with a funny anecdote: Guess was I amazed when I read the latest The Gift of Stitching and noticed that Helga Mandl’s design published in the magazine uses exactly same clover than a design combo I have designed a while ago and which I am currently model stitching for St. Patrick’s Day?
Great minds think alike, it seems and I had to send a courtesy email to Helga right away, just in case there won’t be questions of imitation. (In this case it’s fortunate that motifs, like clovers, can’t be copyrighted as such, only the final design.)
Yes, I am publishing a set of St. Patrick’s Day’s designs soon!

If you have bought the file through me I have emailed you with the corrected version. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.

14th February 2008
The lucky winner of the newsletter competition was Jeannie-Maree B. from Australia! Our lucky winner told me in her email that she never wins anything, therefore I hope that winning EIGHT new designs to stitch soothens that a bit.
Violarium Collection
I am proud to represent you a new series of stitcher’s tools!
The series started with two needlerolls: the violet and white is designed especially for lower count (28-32) fabrics and the white and red is designed especially 40 counts in mind.
New parts will follow each other every few months - the series is exclusively available through Violarium.
And the six others
All of these are available through Periphaeria Designs and all of our retailers.
All but Sunflowers contain charts for both monochromatic and colour version.

Periphaeria’s Birthday!
It was 1st of March, 2007 when Periphaeria Designs‘ first site went officially live. Since then we have changed to our own domain and offer wider variety of services (gallery and community) and better availability.
I want to thank you for being there, purchasing my designs and giving a good word to your stitching friends about PD. As much I would loved to invite you all over for coffee and cookies it’s a logistic impossibility so I came up with another good idea, and this one has zero calories: “Heartfelt”.
You can find this design from the usual direction, but I advice you to hurry: this is a limited-time only complimentary design and will be taken down midnight 31st of March. After this it won’t be available for free.
And… have a happy Valentine’s Day!
(You can read the latest newsletter in here.)

Firstly, I am happily amazed by the response the Mystery has got. The newsletter subscriber list is getting very long very fast so I hope we can see many versions of the sampler stitched!
Secondly, if you are curious to get some sneak peeks about the Valentine’s launch visit Gallery’s Works-In-Progress album.
Some of the teasers are rather blurry as for some reason I haven’t been able to get sharp pictures lately… ah well.
Now, I will make brew some strong coffee for myself and prepare the designs for sale - keep thumbs up that it is sunny tomorrow so I can get some lovely daylight pictures of the models!

See you there!
